Want… As housing prices in coastal areas across much of the United States (California, especially!) continue to soar, the modest desire of surfers to buy a home close to the ocean seems increasingly less tenable. But Canadian firm Backcountry Hut Company (BHC) may have found a solution in this new pre-fabricated tiny home that the company claims can operate on or off the grid.
The “Surf Shack,” like other BHC pre-fab homes assembles much like Ikea furniture, and is customizable based on the buyer’s preferences. The home is delivered by truck or helicopter (in remote settings) in flatpack form, and can reasonably be put together by four handy people over a week, the company told New Atlas.
The basic version starts at $45,000 but can go up depending on different options selected.
