Whether you are a seasoned surfer that likes to get away and surf or if you are new to surfing and like a quick run down to the beach to catch a few waves, it’s clear that surfing is a great way to have some fun and enjoy the beach. However, if you’re looking for some of the best waves that the world has to offer then this list if for you. So, hang tight as we gear up to disclose some of the best surfing locations around the world.

10.) Uluwatu and Kuta, Bali, Indonesia

With perfect glass-like waves, it’s easy to see why surfers from all over come to this location to surf. The varying wave sizes appeal to beginning surfers and expert surfers alike, for one of the best surfing locations in Indonesia.


9.) Tamarindo Beach, Tamarindo, Costa Rica

Tamarindo Beach in Costa Rica is a popular and great place to surf. Surfers like Federico Quevedo, Carlos Muñoz, or Jair Pérez may even be spotted while they're out catching a wave. With waves as tall as 3 meters, it’s easy to see why this is another popular surfing location.

8.) Cloud Nine, Siargao Island, Philippines

This area isn’t called cloud nine for no reason. The waves you catch here are beautiful barrel waves perfect for fulfilling your wave surfing bucket list. Riding one of these waves will have you feeling like you’re on cloud nine. It’s also the reason why it’s one of our top surfing locations.

7.) Puerto Escondido, Southern Oaxaca, Mexico

The surfing season here lasts from March to December. With one of the longest surfing seasons, it’s easy to see why this is one of the best surfing locations in the world. This beach not only boasts white sand but it also has those perfect barrel waves that any surfer would love to ride

6.) Maverick’s, California

With one of the largest legendary waves, it’s easy to see why this location is on our list. Although you do have to reach the legendary wave via jet ski or boat if you’re able to master this wave you’re inducted into an elite group of surfing overachievers. This area isn’t for the faint of heart. In fact, it’s down-right dangerous. This 25-meter wave is responsible for the death of surfing legend Mark Foo.

5.) Hossegor, France

Hossegor in France is known as one of the top locations to surf in all of Europe. This location contains waves for surfers of all kinds, and its consistency is why it’s so popular. Also once home to songwriter Jack Johnson, people come from all around to watch professional surfers ride tube waves that rival those found in Hawaii.

4.) P-Pass, Pohnpei, Federated States of Micronesia

This location is a hard one to find. However, once you find that sweet spot, you’ll be surfing some of the best waves of your life. With amazingly flawless, reef-pass tubes, it’s easy to see why it’s such a great location to surf. However, you’ll find it’s not only secluded but expensive to get to. You’ll also find a sparsely crowded beach when you get there.

3.) Teahupo’o, Tahiti, French Polynesia

Teahupo’o means “Wall of Heads” and if that doesn’t give you an idea about this location then imagine this: 10ft tall surreal looking waves. That’s what you can find here. It’s an area where surfing dreams are made. Definitely not a place for beginning surfers, but absolutely perfect for seasoned surfers looking for a large wave to surf.

2.) Supertubes, Jeffery’s Bay, South Africa

Supertubes should by the only word you need to read here to convince you that this is a phenomenal surfing spot. But if you need other words then try these: Expert surfers come here for rides up to 300 meters long. It’s also the best right-hand ride in the world. For expert surfers, this is one of the surfing spots to visit.

1.) The pipeline, Oahu, Hawaii

Known for the Banzai Pipeline, this location is the place of dreams. This beautiful, gigantic pipeline wave is the wave that every surfer dreams to surf. While most surfers will never be good enough to surf here, it’s okay to dream about it and visit, even if you aren’t skilled enough to surf these waves, they are still an amazing sight to behold.
