here’s tow-ats. Board transfers. The Waimea River mouth (some might call river surfing in general gimmicky). Step-offs, (which aren’t so much of a gimmick if done in the right place). And then there’s stepping off of this contraption: a “half-ton plastic raft,” the oddly-imaginative team at Stab set up in Bali so Noa Deane, Ozzie Wright, Yago Dora, Mitch Coleborn, Balaram Stack, and Imaikalani Devault could acid drop into a clean little runner. Of course, they make it look good. But “The Dock,” has a wicked reverb when it’s at full tension. A gnarly gimmick for certain.
