Cory Lopez has surfed a lot of very big barrels. Mainland Mexico has a lot of them. This particular one–which you may have seen a few months ago when the clip first came out–has to be one of the year’s greatest wipeouts.
From the insanely long drop with a tiny little celebration at the bottom to the stand-up-tall tube ride all the way to the leap into the closeout, this bomb is nothing short of amazing. Now, after a few months of living online, it’s been entered into the Wipeout of the Year category of the Big Wave Awards.
