The auction reached new heights this Wednesday in Monaco during the second Monte-Carlo Gala for the Global Ocean. Several prizes were offered to the wealthy guests, including a surf lesson with Master Kelly Slater at the American's Californian ranch on his artificial wave. The auction started for this lot at 100,000 euros and it only took 50 seconds to finally award it at 500,000 euros to a man who will be lucky enough to be advised by the best surfer in history.
This gala, which aimed to raise funds for the protection of the oceans, raised no less than 21 million euros. Among other prizes were a horseback ride in Portugal with Madonna (€450,000) and a trip for four to Zanzibar with top model Toni Garnn (muse of Victoria's Secret) at €150,000 per person.
