Donald Trump will no longer build a massive three-kilometer seawall at Doughmore Beach, in Ireland.

The businessman and US president-elect dropped the plan to erect a 15-foot tall wall with 200,000 tons of rock in a sensitive sand dune system.
The goal was to protect his Trump International Golf Links & Hotel Doonbeg from the effects of climate change. Ironically, in the past, Donald Trump declared global warming a "hoax."
"Trump's decision to walk away from the seawall proposal is a huge milestone for the #NatureTrumpsWalls campaign, and we are very excited by this decision," underlines Save The Waves, one of the many non-governmental organizations that fought Trump's plan.
The protests against the businessman's proposal resulted in over 100,000 petition signatures, and echoed in both the golf resort and the local authorities,
"We are proud to have brought worldwide attention to this issue and save Doughmore Beach from their ill-conceived proposal. Our work continues as they consider scaled-back measures, but we are excited to spare Doughmore Beach of the monstrous seawall project."
However, the billionaire hasn't given up. Donald Trump and his executives will submit an alternative proposal. The idea is to insert metal sheet piles into the ground with a rock armor fronting.
Trump wants the new structure to be installed 650 meters at the south end of Doughmore Beach and 250 meters at the north end.
