This performance will forever be remembered in the history of international surfing as it is the first time a woman has been rewarded for her achievements in surfing big waves.

For several weeks now, the surfer has been fighting to have her feat of January 18, on the Nazaré wave, recognized and certified by the Guinness Book as a world record.





 Indeed, Maya asked WSL to win the XXL Big Wave Award, a necessary step for her 21-meter wave to be recognized as a world record. So it's "a little girl's dream come true" for the fat surfer.
