Jason Momoa is the actor you probably know best as the hulking “Game of Thrones” warlord Khal Drogo, and who’s playing Aquaman in the newest DC comic book adaptation. He’s also a very psyched skateboarder, surfer and rock climber who often hangs with fellow ridiculously good-looking man Chris Sharma. Momoa’s Instagram account is a visual record of his bromance with the legendary sport climber.
According to this new video Momoa did with Carhartt, he also skates with Christian Hosoi. He’s buddies with Kala Alexander. Plus, he’s married to the actress who played Denise Huxtable on the “Cosby Show.”
And did you know that Momoa, who’s father is native Hawaiian, was born in Honolulu? The dude is an avid surfer, kite surfer, snowboarder, climber and frequent thrower of shakas. Aside from “Game of Thrones,” his contributions to TV include a starring role on the late 90s show “Baywatch Hawaii” and of course the mid-aughts soap opera “North Shore“.
Momoa was raised in Iowa and made his way to Colorado on a soccer scholarship in college. But he bailed on that to climb and then, after seeing Shane Dorian, Matt George and Matty Lui’s “In God’s Hands,” moved back to Hawaii. “I saw that…And I was like, ‘I’m outta here,” he told ESPN.
Momoa is the nephew of surfing legend Buffalo Keaulana with whom he worked at his family’s surf shop “and started surfing 18-20 foot waves with his family.”
If you’re not finished geeking out on Momoa, take a look at the video. He has a decent frontside 50-50 grind on a mini-ramp. And, oh yeah, he seems like the world’s coolest dad.
