Yesterday it was just a rumor, today it's official! WSL launched the Green Alert overnight for the highly anticipated Nazaré Challenge. With a big swell forecast this weekend on the Portuguese coast, they will launch the competition on Friday 16 November, with a very big Saturday and Sunday in sight...
"We officially launched a green alert to manage the Nazaré Challenge on Friday, November 16," said Mike Parsons, Commissioner of the WSL Big Wave Tour. "The conditions we are closely monitoring still seem favourable for Friday. We hope to see epic waves in which surfers can paddle from the beach (25-35 feet). The swell and winds are expected to meet and we are waiting for very clean conditions to launch the Big Wave Tour season. "
