There are a million different reasons why surfing is unlike most sports, but raw nature and unrestricted animal encounters are perhaps the most distinct of all the elements. It’s a privilege, though, that is both wonderful and terrifying at the same time. It’s also one the most satisfying things you could ever do. Just ask Soli Bailey. That face he makes after flying out of that beautiful barrel and giving knuckles to a dolphin on the way out is utterly priceless. He’s just lucky that was a dolphin and not the other sharp-toothed local that is known to cruise around Southern Australia.
