Any time Nazare breaks it’s a sight to behold. A present of sorts. And a few days before Christmas, while the Red Chargers event was on hold with a Code Yellow, a group of surfing’s burliest opted to give it a go. For the big wave surfers who love Nazare, it was an early Christmas present.
Swell came just in time for a brand new event called Red Chargers, which has a waiting period that extends to February 29th, but conditions look favorable to run in the next few days via live webcast. Hosted by Garrett McNamara, Red Chargers is an open invitation contest that invites any and all big wave surfers to compete on live webcast for one of six prizes chosen by the surfers and fans.
