Christmas on the mainland generally means wearing an extra layer or five, and in some parts it flat out means escaping snow flurries and storms. So spending a little bit of time in Hawaii during December might take some getting used to. The water stays warm. Warm enough to trunk it day in and day out. If you’re just visiting you’ll come back home with a tan that will make everyone around you think you’ve missed the memo that summer ended months ago. Yes, life in flip flops and tee shirts on the islands is far from horrible, especially in December. Sure you’ll have to run through the frequent downpours of rain that sneak up every day, but just one good look at a Hawaiian sunset while sitting in the warm Pacific Ocean and you’ll probably never dream of a white Christmas ever again.
