The first shot of Dane Reynolds surfing Quik-free has surfaced. The Hawaiian frame grab (from the lens of Dane’s longtime film guy Mini Blanchard) popped up on DR’s insty today with the caption, “Down the rabbit hole.”
What’s interesting is the placement of the Vans sticker. It’s in no man’s land, semi-near the beak put not prominent enough to confirm that a deal has been inked. We reported the whisper that there was $2 on the table for Dane to go full Vans, but as yet we’ve heard nothing official.
The other possibility is that Mr Reynolds will follow the path of former Quik stablemate Kelly Slater and start his own brand. For now we can only speculate, look forward to Dane’s North Shore footage, and keep our ears tuned in to the coconut wireless.
