If there's one man who knows a thing or two about the top-to-bottom tunnels on the Goldy it is the multiple world champion and Cooly elder Mick Fanning.

Cyclone Marcia and the east swell event delivered five days of Kirra perfection and all the best were present to skim off the cream. The bonus for eyeballs is that where these guys tread the pro lenses follow and here is the defining edit, featuring: Mick, Joel Parkinson, Nathan Hedge, Jordy Smith, Dingo Morrison, Kolohe Andino and several hundred other people without stickers on their sleds.

Unfortunately it still looks like the first leg of the WSL will not be comparatively quite as blessed. For 2015 the best swell of the current event window (starting gun pops on Feb 28 and checkered flag drops on Match 11) is forecast to arrive the day before (Feb 27) and stick around for day one, before entering a declining phase with another pulse around the end of the week. Hopefully things will upgrade towards the back end of the window.
