We’d be lying if we said we weren’t bummed not to see Albee Layer compete at the 2016 Eddie Aikau Big-Wave Invitational. He is hands down one of the best, most entertaining big-wave surfers in the business. In fact, he could’ve very well taken home the title back to Maui. But while 28 of big-wave surfing’s elite battled it out at maxed out Waimea Bay during the Brock Little swell, Albee Layer shared the lineup with two other brave surfers and snuck in perhaps the deepest barrel ever ridden at Jaws. And if this isn’t the deepest barrel ever ridden at Jaws, we’d love to see what is.
