Google has unveiled a commercial in which surfers are part of a discovery story. With the helping hand of Google Earth, a group of Canadian wave riders unlocked a new top quality surf spot in the region of Tofino, in Vancouver Island.

Jeremy Koreski, Sepp and Raph Bruhwiler, Peter Devries and friends hope to find the best wave of their lives and keep the spirit of the search turned on.

The access to unsurfed spots is limited. There aren't many roads and you can only reach the shore by plane or boat. That's why they used their smart phones to analyze the peninsula's surfing potential, in the hundreds of miles never explored before.

Google Earth lets you fly anywhere on Earth to view satellite imagery, maps, terrain, 3D buildings, from galaxies in outer space to the canyons of the ocean. You can pin places you think that may have never been surfed before and could deliver good waves. Of course, the conditions should be checked in different tides and with changing swell and wind directions.
