Whale watching SUP enthusiast Richard German got the surprise of a lifetime this past week when he decided to paddle out to a pack of boats off Laguna Beach. It all started when German heard that a pod of orcas was spotted heading south from Long Beach the day prior. When he saw that a group of boats had gathered a few miles outside Laguna Beach he decided it was worth a shot to see if they were watching the orcas. Much to his surprise and excitement they were. German notes that this has been a dream of his for a very long time and that he’s paddled right up to many other species of whale before, but never the almighty killer whale.
