“For this photo I was using a Canon 1D mk III with a Tokina 10-17mm fisheye lens,” says our after-dark photographer, Mike Incitti, of this evening New Jersey flash. “A good quality flash photo depends on understanding the correlation between the two separate exposures for the camera and the flash. I usually determine my flash’s exposure settings according to how big or wide the barrels are breaking, and sometimes I even like to set the camera’s exposure settings a little darker. This way the photo stands out as more of a ‘night time flash’ photo. I also like the higher shutter so I can get that sharp and crisp high action look.” Mike’s got the tech covered, and then Tommy Petriken just has to stand there. Teamwork, fam.
