The largest swell at Mavericks since 2010 was warmly welcomed by a dense crowd of up to 80 paddlers at the weekend.

That pack was a tough ask, even for the likes of Shane Dorian, with position becoming a lottery rather than an active choice. "There were 70-80 guys out, I caught two waves in seven hours and am just happy to go home in one piece." Said a relived Dorian.



Looking at the current forecast that second blob is impacting today with light variable winds. Unfortunately by the time the swell peaks on Christmas Eve it is forecast to be accompanied by a strong onshore flow.
