Meg Roh, 15, Surfs 1,000 Days In A Row (And Counting)

You might say Meg Roh is obsessed with surfing. The 15-year-old from Southern California has hit the waves every day for almost three years, rain or shine, and even if she’s feeling lousy.

GrindTV reported that Meg finally reached one of her most important goals this past February: She surfed every day for 1,000 days in a row.

Back when she was only a 12-year-old grom, Meg began her daily stoke in order to improve her surfing. Several days turned into weeks, and then the goal got bigger and bigger. Eventually, one year passed, then two. She’ll reach her three-year mark on June 1.

Will Meg keep going? That depends on how her summer goes. She told The Huffington Post -- on her way to the beach, of course -- that she dreams of becoming a world champion surfer one day.

Meg's determination is evident on the water and in the classroom. In addition to her daily surf sessions, she is a member of the San Juan Hills High School surf team and has received straight As for the last three years.
Meg is in a very happy place in her life right now,” her mother Sue Hann told GrindTV.

She even has the support of local residents. You can spot a few “Meg Would Go” bumper stickers around the community, a riff off of the famous slogan tied to respected Hawaiian surf legend Eddie Aikau.

“Every day I have to catch at least five waves,” said Meg, who surfs before or after school depending on her schedule. This is mostly to keep honing her skills, but also because her parents don’t want to drive all the way to the beach for just one wave.

The ninth-grader hopes to travel in the future and said she’d love to go to Hawaii someday to surf the Banzai Pipeline with the pros.
