This Gigantic Iceberg Just Washed Ashore in Newfoundland and it’s Driving Tourists Bonkers

They’ve come to see it in droves: a gigantic iceberg that has washed ashore in Ferryland, a small town on the eastern coast of Newfoundland, has become a tourist attraction.

The Canadian Ice Service (we didn’t know there was one) has classified the enormous block as large, so it comes in at a height of 151-240 feet, at the least, and is between 401-670 feet wide.

This region is known as “Iceberg Alley,” and the season on big ‘bergs is from late summer to mid-September, when the water starts to freeze again.with the International Ice Patrol (again, an agency we didn’t know existed) tracks these things and says 649 blocks have been seen in the trans-Atlantic as of this week.
