Spring has sprung, and with it, winter’s take is revealed. This week, Colorado’s Mesa Lakes Lodge posted these incredible photos to its Facebook page of a mountain lion and deer frozen in time after falling through the ice at Blue Mesa Reservoir sometime this winter.
“WOW, these pictures were taken by some friends that went up to Blue Mesa Reservoir to do a little fishing now that the ice is melting,” reads the post. “How unfortunate for this mountain lion and this mule deer doe! Was such a hard winter here in Western Colorado! The Cat was probably really hungry and followed this doe out on thin ice as she tried to get away and……..Mother Nature doesn’t pick favorites!”
Blue Mesa Reservoir is in Western, Colo. between Montrose and Gunnison in the Curecanti National Recreation Area.
