It’s not so often that we hear from the Canary Islands.
Situated off the west coast of northern Africa, the Canaries are often the first line of defense against massive Atlantic swells. They have ample reef and rock breaks facing in all different directions, so when a swell comes, there’s almost always a good wave to ride. But the islands are cold and small and kind of a hassle to get to, which is to say that most pros don’t visit on a regular basis.
Naxto Gonzales isn’t your average professional though, as shown in this short film. He takes on a wave that he had never even heard of before with reckless abandon. With a little more practice and intel, this wave could have some serious XXL tube potential. Just putting that out there.
