There aren’t many things in the ocean scarier than a great white shark. Of course, that’s mainly because of how we’ve been trained to think of them–but they are scary as hell, none the less. We’ve been trained to think of them as scary because they’ve been evolving into nature’s perfect predator for millions of years, so it makes sense.
Tyler McQuillen was spear fishing off Santa Barbara when a great white decided to sniff out exactly what was swimming around in front of him. According to reports, McQuillen, 22, initially thought his friends pulled his fin off… until he turned around and saw that it was a shark. The footage from the GoPro attached to his spear gun shows a shark that was most likely just curious and not actually attacking. But when a great white bites your fin right off your foot, there aren’t many people on earth who wouldn’t go into panic mode.
