The story of OMNA begins well before 2015. December 2012 in Costa Rica our founder was on a surf trip in Tamarindo with friends. They had to paddle a number of river mouths to get to the surf and they ended up surfing past dusk, which meant they had to paddle the river mouth back at night. This river was known for crocodiles and sharks, so they got into a tight group and paddled as fast as possible to the other side. Luckily, that night nothing happened, but it got him thinking. If something had happened there was no way to stop any bleeding, and get an injured person to the hospital alive. That is where the idea of the tourniquet leash and amphibious tourniquet were born. Since then there have been multiple shark and crocodile attacks around the world. Many of the fatal ones have been due to blood loss, and many of the non-fatal attacks have been due to makeshift tourniquets applied by bystanders on the beach. OMNA's products provide users the increased capability of rapid access to tourniquets to save lives.
