After a formidable charge through the Indian Ocean, the most talked about swell for some time, arrived in the Pacific, drawing things to an elegant finale in Puerto Escondido.
It got less peaky, but longer walls, which is why Far Bar got so good. The waves in Puerto may not have been the most impressive showcase of the swell, especially to the backdrop of the insanity that went down in spring, but this is the same storm you saw light up WA, Indonesia and Fiji.
"When the Indian Ocean pulse arrived there were tubes up and down the beach," said local lensman, Lucano Hinkle.
With the bulk of the swell unloading earlier along the line, further west, much of the travelling contingent were pre-occupied, leaving the local force to mop up. "A few guys had Far Bar to themselves," says Lucano. "It was really fun and barely any crowds. The locals that are always on it like Sasha Donnanno and Oscar Moncada, got some real gems, also the Puerto Rican crew that is here, Ale Moreda, Carlos Cabrero and Mauro Diaz were all scoring."
