The big wave pre-season lit up Mavericks on September 25th, 2014, with
waves along the Northern California coastline ranging from overhead to
double overhead at most exposed breaks, while standouts were pulling up
to triple overhead sets. The forecast showed 8-10ft+ swell with
occasional 14 footers for SF-San Mateo County, and the solid WNW
groundswell arrived for big wave frothers on Thursday morning.
In
the lineup today were big wave surfers: Shawn Dollar, Colin Dwyer,
Darryl “Flea” Virostko, Anthony Tashnick, Grant Washburn, Bianca
Valenti, Nic Vaughan and Zane Kekoa Schweitzer, among other chargers
amping on northwest ground swells.
