Despite a few years of naysayers talking shit about Portugal’s most famous wave, it seems that the general public has come to realize that that the moving mountains funneling through the Nazaré canyon are indeed one of the heaviest places for a surfer on the planet.
Like everywhere, though, it gets to a point where it is just too hairy. “Most of the memorable rides so far were all during big days with favorable or at least sufficient conditions for surfers and safety teams to ride and operate,” says Pedro Miranda, the creator of the clip you see above. “When conditions go beyond that point, we call it Black Naza.”
