If you’re looking to get the waves of your life, New York probably isn’t your best bet. It does, however, have its days. It just so happens that day was on October 8, 2015 at the tail end of Hurricane Joaquin, and it pretty much baffled all who bore witness. “It was definitely, without a doubt, the best day I’ve ever surfed at Rockaway Beach,” says local Jeff Anthony. “It was one of the best sandbars I’ve ever seen in my hometown.” So could this really be the best day Rockaway has seen? “We think so,” said filmmaker NYsea Collective. “If [it’s] not, please show us otherwise.”
