The opening ceremony for the Titans of Mavericks big wave surf contest happened on Saturday in Half Moon Bay. This ceremony not only celebrates the beginning of the contest window, it also honors all the surfers who have lost their lives doing what they love. Charging big waves is not for everyone. These surfers risk their lives every time they go out. Here’s to big waves this year at Mavericks and the surfers who ride them!
